(More customer reviews)I used this when house training my Labrador Retriever puppy beginning at 9 weeks age. I kept her babygated in the kitchen where the floor was an easily cleaned tile & used hydrogen peroxide after cleaning up any spot she made to insure it didn't broadcast radio waves that HERE is a good spot to pee on again. We had no easy, quick access to the outside from the kitchen at that time and I didn't want to carry a dribbling puppy over a babygate, across a carpeted floor, and out the front door. By the time we got outside, all the dribble stuff would've drained out. We didn't use the 2nd Nature litter--we found a few sheets at a time of yesterday's newspaper with an absorbent pad underneath worked fine. I was with her 24/7 and whenever I saw her put her tail up and starting to squat (to pee) or her back arch with her back & front legs crossed (to poop), I'd whisk her to the tray and reward (treat & praise) for any deposits she made there (cleaning up any misses as previously mentioned). It didn't take long before she was seeking out the tray on her own (treat and praise). After she mastered using the tray as her inside bathroom, she made the switch to going outside on the grass without any problem. Now as an adult Lab (63 lbs) we no longer have a need for the tray's initial purpose so I thoroughly cleaned it, put in a pillow in it, and she often sleeps there. I've heard some other Lab owners insist that it'll cause problems unless you train the dog from the beginning to go outside but we've had no problems at all.
