We considered a heated floor mat or a heated wall panel, but went instead with this ceramic bulb, as the wattage was the same or higher than the matts and the cost was less. And, we're happy we did. The ceramic heat emitter keeps the coop nice and toasty for our 9 chickens on those cold New England winter days and nights. It's plugged into Farm Innovations plug that turns the heater off when the outside temperature goes above 45.
