If I were using this every day, instead of just on weekends, I might spend the money for the metal ring. This one's is plastic, but I don't plan on using this vest once it gets real cold. That's the whole idea, here - LIGHT and cool. Great fit (just) with the medium on my 58lb female GSP. No extra strap left over. We crashed some pretty heavy cover this morning for two hours and no hangups. I try to stay away from fences all together anyway. All the seams still look real good. The nylon base material is heavy duty, cordura-type, which I wasn't sure of from the description given. For the money, I can buy a new one every year or two. We have a HD neoprene vest for winter. Gotta protect that belly! Very happy with this purchase, so far. Made in China. I can't stand it!
