(More customer reviews)I bought this larger litter pan in an attempt to pacify my prima donna 4 lbs. shih tzu. Originally, I purchased the smaller pan (a.k.a Toy size); a logical choice given that she was not suppose to exceed 6 lbs. However, she has deemed the smaller pan too small, letting me know this fact by constantly pooping over the edge of the pan... Yes, there are other litter pans you can buy, but most have an area for litter debris trying to prevent the dog from tracking the litter through the house. While these debris reservoir pans look big, the actual pan is not much bigger than the "toy" size version of the Purina pan. Moreover, the reservoir is unnecessary if one is using Purina puppy litter, and Purina puppy litter is the only option for those with small dogs--scoopable litters will get up the dog's nose and cause additional problems. Final conclusion: if your dog is a circler, spend little more and get the larger pan.
