It cannot be mounted anywhere but on top of the lid which means that you must have some kind of opening on your lid to let the food fall through to the water surface, but that will never happen because the food will absorb moisture and stick inside the feeder and grow into mold. If that doesn't worry you then this may, food in the feeder compartments will shift and the food will gather to the center of the unit and never distributed to your fish. Slight handling of the feeder will also shift the food. My recommendations are that you buy a better feeder, get a fish sitter, or scoop them out and buy new fish.
