The item is well built and worth the price, but there is a serious problem with this item - it has a very hard time maintaining humidity. I've worked with mine for 2 weeks now, and I can NEVER get the humidity over 85% even at 90 degrees. I'm incubating kingsnake eggs, so the temp. is around 82 degrees and the humidity needs to be 95% or so consistently (at in least 90-100% range). The temperature is within 1 or 2 degrees as they advertise, but getting high humidity at temps in the mid 80s is next to impossible, and I've tried just about everything you can imagine.
I live in the deep South, so when I turned it off after 2 weeks of working with it, I come back to find that it works better when it's not running! I left the thermometer and humidity gauge inside and the temp was 84 and the humidity 95% - I was shocked. So I fired up the unit again with the same results - it just dropped the humidity down to around 78% and it won't climb any higher.
I cannot recommend this product for folks who incubate under 90 degrees but need humidity over 90% - you can put as much or as little water in whatever form or fashion who wish, but the humidity just refuses to climb above 83% tops.
Now I have to scramble and try to get another set up before my snakes drop their eggs in the next 2-3 weeks - what an inconvenience. I'm going to hop on Ebay and try to sell mine, and be honest - if not I'm chucking it and I'm out $160.00.
I wish it worked, but it doesn't in my situation so check it out well before spending the money.
