(More customer reviews)I have two, a 100 and 250 watt. I must say, these heat emitters are one of the best quality heaters I've seen. They live up to their long life expectation and is durable to last until it has no life left in it. What makes infrared heat emitters so good, especially for coldblooded reptiles is the fact that it heats them from the inside out instead of just heating the outside. Heating the outside first is mainly good for warmblooded like us is because it reduces the heat lost through our body from our cooler surfaces.
So the best kind of heat if you have a coldblooded animal like a lizard etc would be an infrared emitting device. Another good reason is that infrared doesn't release any light source. Some creatures are annoyed by the light.
