(More customer reviews)This is a natural sponge, which I have found does much better at absorbing and holding water than synthetic sponges. Mine is big enough for the crabbies to climb on and still leave room in the dish for baths, water replacement, whatever. Each sponge is shaped a little different, because they are natural. Not intended to do much other than absorb and hold water and help add humidity, which it does well.
