(More customer reviews)I breed bearded dragons, leopard geckos and crested geckos and have for some time. I have used a Hovabator in the past and have had decent results. I heard about the Reptibator from a fellow reptile breeder who is manager of the pet store I frequent. I trust his advise and opinions so when I heard about this "mecca of incubators" I had to have it.
I waited until it went on sale and snagged it then.
I opened the box expecting something that this just wasn't. I was surprised by how cheaply it was made. I know even the Hovabator is made of Styrofoam but this one seemed considerably more flimsy. I was also shocked by the cover on this thing! It is that really flimsy plastic that bends VERY easily when you pick it up. The mechanical components on it even seem very cheap. There is a "stick on" cover to the digital read out screen. That green box on top is the mechanics to the whole thing and seems sturdy enough but you would think there would be more to it.
Overall, this seems to be a standard incubator...such as a Hovabator...with a normal mechanical component that they have programmed to do an extra step...the alarm. It seems they took a Hovabator, colored it green, made the entire cover clear and put a sticker on the mechanics to make it look like its more than it actually is and attached an insulting price tag.
In closing, I would NOT buy this again nor would I recommend this to anyone. The Hovabator works just as well and seems to have less to "worry about breaking". I am worried about how this is going to hold up as it is VERY FRAGILE and would not take a drop/fall or any abuse whatsoever. It seems as though they only made a few cosmetic changes, sacrificing its sturdiness, to the less expensive, more sturdy incubators and slapped a nice sized price tag on it.
DO NOT BE DECEIVED into thinking that more $$ means better quality because that is NOT the case here!!!!
